SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS IN THE UNITED STATES

In the United States, personal information is collected and processed by the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations, New York Office (the “CLAIR New York Office,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) in connection with its programs, operations, and activities.

Notwithstanding any rights described in this Privacy Policy, residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, subject to applicable limitations and exceptions as described below.

California Residents
If you are a California resident, please review our California Privacy Notice, which provides additional information regarding:

  • the categories of personal information we collect
  • the purposes for which such information is used
  • the categories of third parties with whom such information may be disclosed
  • your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended

Privacy Rights for Residents of Certain U.S. States
Subject to applicable law, residents of certain U.S. states (including, for example, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, and Oregon) may have the following rights with respect to their personal information:

(1) Access
The right to confirm whether we process personal information about you and to obtain access to such information.

(2) Correction
The right to request correction of inaccurate personal information, taking into account the nature of the data and the purposes of processing.

(3) Deletion
The right to request deletion of personal information, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.

(4) Data Portability
The right to obtain a copy of personal information in a portable and, where technically feasible, readily usable format.

(5) Opt-Out Rights
Where applicable under law, the right to opt out of:

  • the sale of personal information
  • targeted advertising
  • profiling in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects

However, the CLAIR New York Office:

  • does not sell personal information
  • does not engage in targeted advertising
  • does not use personal information for automated decision-making producing legal or similarly significant effects

Accordingly, these opt-out rights are generally not applicable to our processing activities.

(6) Right to Appeal
If we deny your request, you may have the right to appeal our decision, where required by applicable law. Instructions for submitting an appeal will be provided in our response.

(7) Additional Disclosure Rights (e.g., Oregon)
Residents of certain states may have the right to request additional information regarding specific third parties to whom personal information has been disclosed.

We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable U.S. privacy laws.
